Anneke and collages
I am converting my thoughts and imagination into shapes and colours. That's what I do when I make collages. I use various materials, images, and/or texts in old writings, books, and magazines. I also use my own materials, such as (family) photos, drawings in pencil, paint and ink. My favourite tools are scissors, a knife and a pot of glue.
As I work intuitively on a collage, an image emerges in which a new, sometimes wondrous, story unfolds. Associations, feelings and thoughts that come to my mind during the creative process flow into the collage, so to speak. It’s a fascinating process. I like to make personal collages as gifts for family and friends. In these collages, my memories of the person become visible.
My collage adventure started with Juliette Pestel. The world of collage opened to me during an introductory course in her studio, and I soon discovered the ultimate form of expression for my creative energy. Juliette is still important to me as a tutor and inspiration, and I enjoy working with fellow collage students in her studio during Werkplaats.
I am inspired by: beautiful words, moving images, music, colours, textures and life itself. But nature is my primary source of inspiration. Always present in my work and my life. She lets everything flow… including the creative process.
